How many Salla stores are there?
A dated, verified count — what it includes, how it breaks down, and why other sources publish different numbers.
As of October 2026, SallaData has verified 41,038 stores running on Salla (سلة), the Saudi e-commerce platform. 40,085 of them were active at verification. Every store was confirmed individually to be running on Salla.
Treat 41,038 as a verified floor, not a census. Salla does not publish a directory of its merchants, so any count built from public sources misses stores it never discovered. Salla itself tells app developers it has more than 68,000 active stores, while technology trackers report fewer live websites — the reasons are explained below.
The count at a glance
| Measure (October 2026) | Stores |

| Assigned to one of 21 categories | 30,471 |
| Not categorised (too little public information) | 10,567 |

Salla does not publish store categories, so these are assigned by SallaData from each store's menu, name, description and keywords. They are accurate for most stores but not all; spot-check before precise targeting. The 10,567 uncategorised stores are verified Salla stores whose public storefront gives too little to classify — they are counted in the total, just not in this table.
How many Salla stores publish contact details?
Contact coverage is what the stores themselves publish on their storefronts, across all 41,038 stores:
- Phone: 31,354 stores (76%)
- WhatsApp: 28,578 (70%)
- Email: 22,743 (55%)
- Instagram: 25,241 (62%); TikTok 60%, Snapchat 36%, X 22%
- Commercial registration (CR): 16,178 (39%); VAT number: 7,296 (18%); freelance licence 31%
How many Salla stores offer Tamara or Tabby?
44% of all 41,038 stores list at least one buy-now-pay-later provider on their storefront. Measured across categorised, active stores only, the shares are higher: 54% offer Tamara or Tabby, 44% offer Tamara and 36% offer Tabby (many offer both). These are shares of stores, not of sales volume.
What counts as a “Salla store” here?
One record is one storefront confirmed to run on Salla — whether it lives at a
salla.sa/<store-name> address or on the merchant's own domain. A storefront reachable at
both is one record; one business running two separate storefronts is two. Closed and maintenance-mode
stores are kept and labelled with their status rather than silently dropped, which is why the total and the
active count differ by 953.
The count is a floor for three reasons: discovery relies on public sources, so stores that never appear in them are missed; a store is only counted once it is positively verified; and new stores open every day after the snapshot is taken. The methodology describes discovery, verification and per-column coverage in detail.
Why do other sources report different numbers?
Published Salla figures range from roughly 26,000 to 80,000 because they measure different things. Each figure below was read on the source page on 24 October 2026:
| Source | Figure as published | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Salla Partners (Salla's own developer portal) | More than 68,000 active online stores | Active stores as counted by Salla itself, from its own systems |
| Store Leads (report updated 16 October 2026) | 26,138 live stores | Stores it currently tracks as live on the Salla platform |
| Wappalyzer (no date shown on page) | 32,000 websites using Salla | Websites its technology detection tracks as using Salla |
| Sharikat Mubasher, 13 February 2025, quoting Salla's CTO | Over 60,000 online stores supported over the past seven years | Stores served since launch — a cumulative figure |
| CairoScene, 7 March 2024, on Salla's funding round | Over 80,000 active merchants | Merchant accounts as reported by the company at the time |
None of these is wrong; they answer different questions:
- Merchant accounts versus live storefronts. A merchant account can exist without a published, trading store — trials, stores still being set up, and paused stores all count as merchants but not as live storefronts.
- Cumulative versus point-in-time. “Stores supported over seven years” includes stores that have since closed. A snapshot counts only what exists on the day it is taken.
- Websites versus stores. Technology trackers count websites. Stores on their own
domain are easy to detect as separate sites; stores at a
salla.sa/<store-name>address share Salla's domain and may be counted differently, or not at all. - Verification rules. SallaData keeps a store only once it is individually confirmed to be on Salla, and labels closed stores instead of removing them. Other methods include or exclude stores on different evidence.
- Timing. The figures were published between 2024 and 2026. Stores open and close continuously, so even identical methods give different answers months apart.
Salla's own figure is the authoritative measure of its merchant base: it can see accounts that no outside method can. If you need the number of stores you can actually find, verify and reach from public information, a verified storefront count is the relevant one.
Sources and method
SallaData figures come from the October 2026 dataset build and are read from the same configuration as the rest of this site; category counts are aggregates with no store records. External figures were checked on the linked pages on 24 October 2026. How stores are found, verified and categorised is described in the methodology.
